The anime adaptation based on the light novel series of the same name was produced by Lerche studio. It's also widely known by the English title Classroom of the Elite. It premiered on July 12, 2017 on AT-X and other channels.
On February 21, 2022 a sequel to the 2017 anime was announced[1]. On March 6, 2022 it was announced that the second season will premiere on Summer 2022 and season 3 is in production and scheduled for 2023. It was also confirmed that entirety of 1st Year Arc would be animated by the second and third season.[2]
Synopsis
In the not too distant future, the Japanese government has established the Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School, dedicated to instruct and foster the generation of people that will support the country in the future. The students there have the freedom to wear any hairstyle and bring any personal effects they desire.
Our protagonist is Kiyotaka Ayanokōji, a quiet, unassuming boy who is not good at making friends and would rather keep his distance. He is a student of D-Class, which is where the school dumps its inferior students in order to ridicule them. After meeting Suzune Horikita and Kikyō Kushida, two other students in his class, Kiyotaka's situation begins to change.

On May 1, 2017 the press release for the anime series was announced with Seiji Kishi and Hiroyuki Hashimoto serving as its directors. On the same day, the official anime website was opened. On May 8, list of TV anime staff was revealed, followed by list of full cast a week later. As of June 24, both theme songs were revealed: The opening theme "Caste Room" by ZAQ while the ending theme "Beautiful Soldier" performed by Minami. Later, the first official anime promotional video was on screen.

Production
It is scheduled to premiere in Summer 2022 on July 4. The first season's directors Seiji Kishi and Hiroyuki Hashimoto are returning as chief directors, with Yoshihito Nishōji as the credited director at Lerche. Hayato Kazano is now overseeing the series scripts, and Kazuaki Morita is back to design the characters. Masaru Yokoyama is composing the music, joined by Kana Hashiguchi. Satoki Iida is directing the sound. The opening theme will be again performed by ZAQ, while the ending theme will be performed by Mai Fuchigami.

Production
Season 3 was confirmed as being in production in Special Anime Project with a 2023 scheduled release. Upon the release of Light Novel 2nd Year Volume 9.5, it was announced that Season 3 will premiere in January 2024 as part of the Winter 2024 season.[3]

- At last, we get to enter the second student term, picking up the story where Ayanokōji and the others left off. The production is scheduled to take us through the third student term as well, and the surprise announcement that we’ll get to see the whole first year arc animated make me extremely happy as a creator. And it seems they’ll also be replaying the first term arc in the spring… It just makes me feel extremely grateful.
- It’s been seven years since I quietly started publishing this series in 2015, and I can’t believe how big it’s gotten since then. The fact that we’re getting a new anime adaptation is certainly due to the support that you have all shown the series. Getting to see Ayanokōji, Kōenji, Ryūen, Hirata, Ishizaki, Hashimoto and the others moving and speaking in animated form has been so much fun for me. Isn’t male conflict great? Thank you, thank you so much for everything.
